Number of printings unknown; this edition has not been seen and almost certainly does not exist. Although it is listed on the U.S. Tolkien Guide website, the author has stated that this particular entry cannot be confirmed. It may be that it was considered by Houghton Mifflin but was withdrawn before publication, possibly in favor of their updated Collector’s Edition. However this is merely speculation.
