A second state of this slipcase carrying the Tolkien Centenary logo on its right side (open end of case toward viewer) was produced in 1992 and contained the following printings:

The Two Towers – 8th-10th Printings
The Return of the King – 8th-10th Printings
At some point during the 9th, 11th, 10th and 10th print run (respectively), the first state slipcase was again used and remained in use for the remainder of this edition’s production.
