Notes
Typeset as for the HarperCollins 2005 First Edition.
From TolkienBooks.net: “This volume brings together many hard to find Tolkien-related extracts from a variety of poems, letters, manuscripts and interviews. There is also some new material, mostly in the form of letters and linguistic material. The following items are perhaps the most worthy of note:
1) A newly transcribed version of The Nomenclature of The Lord of the Rings. A slightly less complete edition was published as Guide to Names in The Lord of the Rings in A Tolkien Compass (1975).
2) Part of Tolkien’s 1951 letter to Milton Waldman, previously unpublished in the UK.
3) A reproduction of a manuscript page showing a synoptic time scheme used by JRRT while writing The Lord of the Rings. It summarizes the movements of characters between the 8th and the 12th of March.”
At least two? printings issued and is available new.
